Multimedia - Criteria Sheet for Assessment 4 (3D)

Link:

My apologies for not having checked your posters yet.  I find rather hard taking note of the comments made about your posters because some of the comments are not really genuine, but obviously very shallow or superficial.

As such, for your music video presentations, I will no longer consider any comments made about your MVPs as part of rating your assessment.  I will only stick to the criteria given to you.

There will still be monitoring of your work progress for your assessment 4.  Monitoring will start on Feb. 25 (CS class) and March 1 (IT class).

Algorithms - Topics for Presentation

I will do all the topics from Greedy Algorithms on Monday, Feb. 18.  We'll start at 1:00pm.

All the numbered topics below (1-10) are available topics for presentation.  I would have randomly assigned the topics to each one of you but I decided that I will give you an option to choose what topic you want to present.  Select the number of your chosen topic and reply to this post within the week.  First one to reply with the chosen topic/number gets the topic. THOSE WHO WILL NOT CHOOSE ANY TOPIC UNTIL FRIDAY WILL GET NO TOPIC WHICH MEANS THAT THEY WILL LOSE POINTS EQUIVALENT TO ONE LONG TEST.

We will cover Divide and Conquer topics on Tuesday, Feb, 19.

1. Closest-Points Problem :   ATO
2. The Selection Problem :  GINGOYON
3. Theoretical Improvements for Arithmetic Problems :  YU

- Intro and Using a Table Instead of Recursion :  Maui
4. Ordering Matrix Multiplications :  NALASA
5. Optimal Binary Search Tree :  MALATA

- All-Pairs Shortest Path : Maui

Algorithms and Discrete Math: URGENT - New Announcement

This announcement pertaining to the upcoming OCSC election just came in today. As such, there will be changes to the dates of our long test (Algorithms) and midterm exam (Discrete Math).

All class on February 12, Tuesday, from 1:00-7:00pm will be cancelled to pave way for the Miting de Avance.  The Local Council Miting de Avance will be held here in IC from 1:00-3:00pm, which will be followed by the Miting de Avance for the Executive Committee from 3:00-7:00pm.  I will be asking the ICLC officers to monitor your attendance on this date.  Your attendance on this said activity will account for your class attendance.  Look for the ICLC Secretary, Louella Cariño, for the attendance.

Algorithms:  Our long test will be moved on MONDAY, FEB. 11, 12:00N-2:00PM.  Please come on time as we will have the Local Academic Council at 2:00pm also.  We will not meet anymore on Feb. 14, Thursday, since I will not be around.  You, however, will be assigned one topic from the next chapter that we will be covering to present in class by Feb. 19.  Your presentation will count as one long test so you have to deliver your topic well if you want to make up for your low grades in the prelim.  Keep posted for you assign topic.

Discrete Math:  Our midterm exam will be moved on THURSDAY, FEB. 14, 3:30-5:00PM here at ICLAB2.  I will be asking Juvi, the IC student assistant, to proctor the exam as I will not be around on that date to attend the Smart Sweep Awards Night in Makati.  However, I will be watching the CCTV camera installed in the lab to check for any forms of cheating.  If caught, as seen on cam, you will be penalized.

Please spread this new announcement.

Algorithms and Discrete Math - Announcement

Algorithms:  It's set, we'll have the long test no. 2 on Tuesday, February 12.  You may come early at 12nn if you do not have classes prior to ours.  The coverage is shorter than the first test so the items are lesser as well.

Discrete Math:  Those who did not submit their exam booklets are the following:
  1. Dela Peña, Mc Androl Allen
  2. Madato, Annalou
  3. Varona, Kimberly
Take note that you cannot take the exam without the exam booklet.  You have until tomorrow to submit.

Zaide, Noro Ddien - You have not written the logical identities and rules of inference in  you exam booklet.

Algorithms and Discrete Math - No Class Tomorrow

All classes tomorrow afternoon are cancelled due to the ROTC event.

Algorithms:   Here is the link to the answers in our long test.  I haven't had the chance to review it yet so study the solutions carefully and let me know if there are irregularities in the answers.  If you think yours is the correct answer then feel free to point out the error.

Part 2 of the long test is scheduled next week, February 12, Tuesday.  Coverage will start from Minimum Spanning Tree up to the last topic we have discussed in Graph Theory.  If you prefer to have the long test on Monday so that you will have enough time, just let me know in advance.

Discrete Math:  Here is the problem set on proving, instead of having the quiz tomorrow.  This is to be submitted tomorrow afternoon at the IC office.  You are to submit also your exam booklets as agreed last time.  No exam booklet, no exam next week.

No meeting this Thursday due to our seminar-workshop.
